How do I know if my home has aluminum wiring?
Look at your breaker panel or attic wiring — aluminum wiring is silver in color rather than copper-orange. Homes built between 1965–1973 are most likely to have aluminum branch circuit wiring.
Is aluminum wiring dangerous?
Aluminum wiring itself isn't banned, but its connections are more prone to loosening over time, which creates heat and fire risk. Remediation with approved connectors (COPALUM crimps or AlumiConn connectors) or full replacement are the safe solutions.
Do I need to move out during rewiring?
For most partial rewiring jobs, no. Full home rewiring may require moving out for 1–3 days depending on home size. We'll give you a realistic timeline during the estimate.
